Meeting with the U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary of State
On September 24, 2019, within the framework of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South Central Asian Affairs Alice Wells.
The parties exchanged views on the outcome of the recent Central Asia – United States (C5+1) ministerial meeting, which served to discuss promising areas for development of multilateral cooperation in a constructive spirit.
Alice Wells praised the current state of bilateral relations. The diplomat welcomed the progress achieved in Uzbekistan in protecting human rights, interaction with civil society institutions and expressed hope for continuation of the current dynamics of transformation.
At the meeting, issues of promoting the inter-Afghan peace process were discussed, the importance of consolidating efforts for economic, social, and infrastructural reconstruction of Afghanistan was emphasized.
